Mawkyrwat; August 12, 2020: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat informed that in compliance to Government directions and as per the SOP given by the Ministry of Home Affairs on celebration of Independence Day, 2020 in Meghalaya, it is announced that this year the official Independence Day celebration in the District Headquarter of South West Khasi Hills District and Ranikor Civil Sub-Division will be celebrated in a small scale in view of COVID-19.
The
DC also informed that there will be limited number of participants, by invitation
only and no March pass will take place. Flag hoisting, National Anthem and
Guard of Honour will be included and all protocols for mask wearing and social
distancing will be observed. All attendance will undergo thermal screening and
other protocols. There will be a special programme of felicitation of health
care workers and Covid warriors on the day.
The
Deputy Commissioner enjoins upon all villages and members of the public on the
day to recognise the efforts of health care and other frontline workers in
their respective areas like ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, community volunteers, etc
who have been instrumental in the fight against COVID-19 and also to reach out
to persons in need during this time of crises, in a spirit of kinship and
compassion for the service of our state and country.
