August 25, 2021: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya
Shri. Conrad K. Sangma on his two days tour to Garo Hills from the 24 to 25
August, 2021 inspected, inaugurated and launched several developmental projects
and schemes.
He Inspected
the Tura-Garobadha Road and announced that ₹14 Cr has been sanctioned for improvement
of the road in which the work will begin this September to ensure road connectivity is enhanced across Meghalaya. He also handed
over Computer Units to St. Dominic Savio Hr. Sec School & Garobadha Hr.
Sec. School to upgrade IT infrastructure across all Schools in the State.
He interacted
with farmers group at Ampati and distributed cheques to producer groups. He said
that as part of the mission to empower farmers & entrepreneurs through
market linkages, interest free loans, technical support & certification of
their products, Prime Hub (a center for incubation & mentorship) in South
West Garo Hills will be set up. He added that the government is committed
to the welfare of Farmers and through the FOCUS scheme farmers &
agripreneurs will be given financial support and training so that they can
prosper.
During the
graduation ceremony of Cohort 1 and on-onboarding ceremony of Cohort 2 entrepreneurs
selected under CM's E-Championship Challenge held at Tree
House Tura, Conrad Sangma said that the state government has successfully
uncovered the potential and skills of young people through the E-Campionship
programme which has empowered them to take the challenge of entrepreneurship.
He added that business incubation & mentorship period through PRIME Meghalaya
will enable them to upscale their venture and broaden their horizons. He handed over cheques (₹1 Lakh each for the top 25
entrepreneurs & ₹50,000 each for the next 25 entrepreneurs).
The Chief Minister also launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 scheme in Tura by distributing LPG Cylinders to women beneficiaries. He Inaugurated the Community Public Drinking Water Tap at Rongka Chiring under Tura Urban Water Supply Scheme and said that the community tap connection is a great boon to the women and children who had to earlier fetch water from far-off places. He also Inaugurated the Mendipathar Facilitation Centre at Mendipathar Railway Station in North Garo Hills District to help the District Administration to effectively monitor the flow of visitors to the region and check on illegal infiltration into the state. He also informed that the largest food park in the state is being set up at Mendipathar Industrial Area at a Cost of 100 crore along with the biggest feed mill in the North East.
