Shifting of Superintendent of Fisheries Office Building

Mawkyrwat, October 21, 2020: The office of the Superintendent of Fisheries, South West Khasi Hills District (SWKHD), Mawkyrwat informed the general public that the said office situated at Laitlawsang has temporarily been shifted in the building of Shri. Rowel Lyngdoh Marshilong opposite to the office of the Block Development Officer, Mawkyrwat as the office building is under construction. Therefore, all official works henceforth will be at the sifted building.

DC promulgates NIGHT CURFEW order under section 144 Cr.P.C at SWKHD

Mawkyrwat, October 21, 2020: Smti. C. Kharkongor, IAS, District Magistrate, South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat promulgate NIGHT CURFEW in South West Khasi Hills District with effect from 10:00 PM on 22 October, 2020 until 5:00 AM of 29tof October, 2020 under Section 144 Cr.P.C read together with Regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020. The order was issued in view of the prevailing situation concerning COVID - 19 in the state, and in order to put in place preventive and mitigation measures so the pandemic of COVID-19 is contained, reduced and eliminated in South West Khasi Hills District and Meghalaya.

According to the order movement of individuals within the district shall remain prohibited between 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM (Night Curfew) each day and no plying of vehicles other than essential services/ essential commodities is permitted. The Order will Not apply to Medical Team and officials on COVID-19 duty, Police, Security and Armed Forces, Civil Defense and Home Guard volunteers, Wholesale and Retail Pharmacies, Fire & Emergency Service, MeECL & Power Grid,  Officers and Staff of Corona Care Centers, Press, Print & Electronic, Information& Public Relations Department, National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and Telecom service. However, these services shall strictly comply with all protocols and procedures including social distancing, limiting of field staff to the barest minimum and other advisories of Government in the Health and Family Welfare Department, WITHOUT FAIL. Also, movement of vehicles carrying essential goods, security forces, medical equipments and shops for repair of trucks on highways is exempted. However, drivers and attendants of the vehicles shall be subject to medical screening as per laid down protocols. As per the order, the exemption granted to Official and Non-Official emergency / essential services, establishments and agencies above shall not extend to Containment Areas except for exemption granted therein.  

Curfew passes for timing falling between 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM with effect from 21^st October 2020 (Wednesday) upto 28^th October, 2020 (Wednesday) to be obtained from Transport Cell, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills District.

Any person violating the order will be liable to be proceeded against as per the provisions of Section 51-60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and Section 188 of the IPC. In view of the urgency of the matter, this order has been made ex-parte.
