Mawkyrwat, April 07, 2021: The office of the District Medical & Health Officer (DM&HO), South West Khasi Hills District (SWKHD) will organized the National Deworming Day Programme from 12th to 19th April, 2021 which will be carried out in order to distribute deworm tablets in session sites and Anganwadi Centers of the District.
The
DM&HO, SWKHD urged parents, caregivers, community leaders, teachers,
anganwadi workers and other frontline health workers to take active part in
this programme as this programme will tremendously impact the health of
children as they may suffer from several harmful health issues because of worm
infection such as Anemia, Nutritional impairment, loss of appetite, weakness,
stomach ache, nausea, tendency to vomit, diarrhea and so on. COVID-19 protocols
will be strictly adhered to during the programme so as to create a safe
environment.
The
National Deworming Day Programme aimed at helping children from 1-19 years old
to become worm free. The deworm tablets will be distributed free of cost at
session sites and Anganwadi Centers of the District from 12th to 19th
April, 2021. Therefore, the DM&HO, SWKHD strongly recommend parents to take
their children to the nearest session site and Anganwadi Center to avail the
benefits. He added that in case people have queries they can contact the
doctors, nurses, ANM and other health personnel of the District.
