N.E.S.T GETTOGETHER
THE NORTH EAST STUDENT TEAM (NEST), in Mangalore on Sunday through the initiative of SPARSHA Youth Counseling center, Bikarnakatte organized the first get together of all the North East students who are studying in and around Mangalore. It was held in Kalaangan,Shaktinagar. As the students entered the venue there was a feeling of oneness and of togetherness. It was a home coming experience for all because the Khasi, Manipuri, Naga, Assamese, Tripuris and Mizo students got the opportunity to talk in their own languages and revive their cultural dance and songs.
In the beginning during the key note address, Mr.Roshan Castelino, the president of Sparsha Youth Counseling Center said that we have gathered here beyond our languages, cultures, religions and tribes, for all of us are first and foremost Indians. The chief guest Mr.George Pinto S.P Excise Dept.Mangalore, filled with emotions and with great assurance said that that if any of the North East student encounters any political, legal or other problem, they can always approach him. He assured that 24X7 he is available for them. The Director of the Konkani Yuva Kendra, Mr. Eric Rossario freely gave the venue to the NEST and enthralled everyone by saying that only the Northeast people can break the longest singing Guinness World Record which the Mangalorian have made last year .He further said that he really envies the rich culture that the Northeast have. The input session about team work in success by Ms.Sharlett was also a very interactive and lively one. The Director of Sparsha Youth Counseling Center Mr. Denis D’Silva gave us a full support and make us all happy.
Many Northeast students have come and gone from Mangalore without realizing that there are so many Northeast friends in and around Mangalore. It was SPARSHA and some students who started the NEST to unite all the Northeast students and make them feel at home in Mangalore.
