The Office of the District Legal Services Authority
(DLSA), South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat announced for provision of Legal
assistance to the affected people through legal services in these times of crisis
following the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Smti. M.K Lyngdoh, Chief Judical Magistrate cum
Secretary District Legal Services Authority, South West Khasi Hills District,
Mawkyrwat in a letter issued for press release said that the possibility of
cases of domestic violence, eviction of tenants for non-payment of rent,
non-payment of wages by employers and other legal matters cannot be ruled out
during the Lock-Down period. Therefore, the office of the District &
Session Court, South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat has set up a Help
Desk in front of the District & Session Court, South West Khasi Hills
District, Mawkyrwat for providing legal advice or assistance in which Para
Legal Volunteers at the Help Desk would provide legal advice or assistance and
facilitate the process for those in need and seeking for relief. People
requiring legal assistance can also call, message or WhatsApp on the Helpline Number 99546-59516. However,
the affected person should provide the minimum details whenever they contact at
the helpline number. The Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) will help in getting Car
Pass for emergency and medical purposes for inter-state and inter-district
movement by collaborating with the District Administration.
Lyngdoh also expressed her gratitude to several
departments of the District for their constant and tireless support,
co-operation and co-ordination in all aspect to provide succor to the people in
need of help and in assisting farmers, daily wage laborers and marginalized
people who were affected during the Lock-Down Period following the COVID-19 Pandemic.
