72nd Republic Day Celebration at SOUTH WEST KHASI HILLS DISTRICT

Mawkyrwat, January 26, 2021: The 72^nd Republic Day Celebration was celebrated at Mawkyrwat in a befitting manner wherein Shri. Alexander Laloo Hek, Hon’ble Minister I/c Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Meghalaya unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya salute while the Pipe Band from the Meghalaya Home Guard led by Havildar R.C Lamare performed the Guard of Honour and played the National Anthem in a solemn gathering in the presence of Smti. C. Kharkongor, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills District and other distinguished guests which was held at Maharam Govt. Higher Secondary School, Mawkyrwat.

          The other highlights of the day were Tableau Presentation by different Departments of the District, in which the Office of the Superintendent of Fisheries, Mawkyrwat bagged as the winner followed by District Agriculture and Horticulture Department, Mawkyrwat in the 2nd and PHE Department the 3rd Prize. As a token of appreciation for the exemplary work and tireless efforts in fighting against COVID-19 pandemic the District Administration awarded health workers with Certificates and momentos which include Dr. W. L. Nary, District Surveillance officer in charge of Covid-19 management in the District, Shri. Pynwanbor Mawsor, District Programme Officer, Shri. Larrykupar Marwein and District Data Manager, the awarded was also given to Police Personnel in recognition for their 24X7 services at Umjarain Check point during the Lockdown period and in monitoring the movements of vehicles, to the Civil Defense for their services during the Lockdown period, various stakeholders including Shri. Edilbert Iawphniaw, Chairman Rangblang COVID-19 Management Committee, Shri Trancodimos Wanniang, Headman Mawthong Village, Shri. Pherlin Syiemlieh and Smti. Tisbina Wahlang and Shri. Sebarious Marwein were awarded for their contribution in fighting against COVID-19. The Department of Health & Family Welfare Govt. of Meghalaya (MHIS) selected Mawthawpdah PHC as the top performing PHC in the District. (L) Yamuna Naik Academic Award-2020 given by SMART Charitable Trust Meghalaya in collaboration with the Education Department was awarded to Miss Deusvobiscum Wanniang, Presbyteriang Secondary School, Mawlangwir and Miss Mattibakordor Khongngain, JNV Nongstoin. Certificate of participation were also given to Ionglajong Cultural Club Mawlangwir and to Dr. Dariphylla Kharkongor & Shri. Tonangteinam Mawroh for their performance during the Republic Day Celebration.

It is also worth mentioning that the day was celebrated by adhering to the Covid-19 protocols issued by the Health Department.

Ranikor, January 26, 2021: Shri. Shanbor Shullai, MLA, South Shillong Assembly Constituency, hoisted the Tri Colour Flag in a public gathering which was held at Nolikata playground.

         The other highlights of the day were felicitation to COVID-19 warriors which include Dr. Patmos Warjri, M&HO, Ranikor CHC, Shri. Rakku D’Shira, DEO, Ranikor CHC, Smt. Tiknabha Syiemlieh, Staff Nurse, Ranikor CHC and Shri. R.B Dkhar, AEE, Ranikor PWD (Rds). Shri. D. Kharmyndai was the parade commander in a programme chaired by Shri. A. Lyngdoh, BADO.
