Shillong, July 25, 2021: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on his two days visit to Meghalaya. On the Second day of his visit Amit Shah planted tree saplings in Sohra as part of the Sohra Afforestation Project & with the aim for ecological restoration. Shah also inaugurated the Greater Sohra Water Supply Scheme funded by DoNER. An initiative was also taken up by the Government of Meghalaya uniting the Ministry of Home Affairs, Defence officials and village communities for Natural Resource Management to preserve the environment. He also visited the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram there.

Saturday Amit Shah chaired the NESAC SOCIETY MEETING held at NESAC (North-Eastern
Space Applications Centre) campus. Shah laid the foundation stone for the NESAC
Multi-purpose Convention Center cum Space Exhibition facility, inaugurated the
Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) at Mawiong in the outskirts of Shillong and flagged
off the first fleet of buses at ISBT, He inaugurated the Covid-19 Step Down
Hospital with Paediatric ICU and the 13 KL Liquid Medical Oxygen Plant at
Umsawli. He also chaired a closed-door meeting with the CMs, Chief Secretaries
and police chiefs of all the NE states on Saturday to discuss issues ranging
from interstate border issues between Assam with the other states that include
Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram. Shah also met with the
leaders of pressure groups like the KSU, FKJGP, CoMSO and others to discuss on
matters that include Inner Line Permit, Amendment to the Sixth Schedule, Inclusion
of Khasi Language in the Eight Schedule, Border issues and other related issues
pertaining to Meghalaya.
