there is any abnormal mortality of pigs
Mawkyrwat; September 08, 2020:
The office of the Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills District,
Mawkyrwat issued this order that in view of confirmed cases of occurance of
African Swine Fever (AFS) in some district and some cases of pig death reported
in Umpung Village and Mawthong Village as per report received from the Addl.
Deputy Commissioner, i/c Ranikor Civil Sub-Division, Ranikor and District AH
& Vety Officer, Mawkyrwat.
As
a preventive measures to control the spread of African Swine Fever (AFS)
disease o the district if detected, Kum. Isawanda Laloo, IAS, District
Magistrate, South West Khasi Hills District, under section 144 Cr.P.C instruct
that lal private pgi farms and pg farms shall take adequate measures for strict
hygiene and bio-security measures as per following protocols issued by the
Secretary to the Govt. of Meghalaya, AH & Veterinary Department that no
transportation of pigs from and into the district, no improper disposal of
death pigs, no inter-state and inter district movements of pigs. Pig farm
owners shall maintain hygiene and bio-secure condition at all times and
restricts the entry of personnel into farm premises. Pig owners should take
preventive measures to prevent transmission of diseases from wild boar,
scavenging and stray pigs. Movements of pig handlers from one pig shed to other
pig shed is prohibited. Feeding of swill (kitchen and restaurant wastes) in
infected zones should be stopped by the pig farm owners. Waste from slaughter
houses and pork stalls has to be disposed of properly after following all
standards protocols including disinfection and burial in disease free zones.
If
there is any sing of abnormal mortality of pigs, the Rapid Response Teams of
South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat may be contacted. In view of the
urgency of the matter the order is passed ex-parte with immediate effect until
further orders.
