SRCW offers help to vulnerable women and children who suffered during COVID-19

 Mawkyrwat; September 08, 2020: The office of the Mission Director, State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW), Social Welfare Department, Government of Meghalaya do hereby informed that in view of the prevailing Covid-19 Pandemic, women and children may be going through difficulties and are more vulnerable to become victims to various evils such as domestic violence ,spousal violence, physical abuse, sexual harassment at home or at workplace or in the fields etc. Therefore, the government is committed to ensure the protection of the women under the Domestic Violence Act, 2005; Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006;  Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act, 2013 etc. and if a woman is faced with any of the above mentioned untoward situations or if anyone knows any woman to be in any such situation, they can and should call on Women Helpline Tollfree Number 181 to report such cases, so that the necessary steps can be taken to ensure their safety, security and well-being.

Children too may find themselves helpless in situations such as caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and may be forced into child labor, physical abuse, sexual harassment, drug abuse and other such evils. Such cases must be immediately reported by calling the Childline Helpline Tollfree Number 1098.
